The 72nd Love and Caring Action by Volunteers

     On October 31, 2020, Dasin Commonweal Volunteer Team once again walked into the home of the disabled youth Xiao Tong (pseudonym) and the autistic youth Ting Ting (pseudonym) to provide caring services, accompany them, and add happy time to their lives!

     On the day of the visit, Xiao Tong and Ting Ting were very happy to see the arrival of the volunteers and went out to meet them. After a number of visits, Ting Ting has been very familiar with the volunteers. After the volunteers entered the door, Ting Ting immediately pulled the volunteers to sit beside her, sharing her current campus life and favorite songs. Ting Ting took out a photo of her favorite singer, and told the volunteers that she wanted to have the same hairstyle as the singer in the photo. To fulfill Ting Ting’s wish, a volunteer combed and tied Ting Ting’s hair with elastic bands. Ting Ting was very happy and satisfied with such simple actions. Perhaps for the children of the stars, the world is so simple, and it is so easy for them to feel happy.

     While accompanying Ting Ting, the volunteers also communicated with Xiao Tong to learn about her current conditions: At present, Xiao Tong has completed the webcast, floriculture and tea art courses, and returned to work at the work therapy station. Recently, her father has been assigned to work in another place, leaving her mother alone at home to take care of them. The volunteers also persuaded Xiao Tong to understand her mother’s hardships, learn to help share the housework, and know how to take care of and get along with her sister.

     At parting, in order to practice Ting Ting’s self-care ability, the volunteers went to the supermarket with Ting Ting, and Ting Ting completed the task of helping her mother get eggs. During the short journey, the volunteers found that Ting Ting had learned to recognize the way and have simple communication with the supermarket personnel. Finally, accompanied by the volunteers, Ting Ting completed her mother’s task and returned home.

     Dasin Commonweal Volunteer Team has insisted on monthly home visits to long-term subjects in need - Xiao Tong and Ting Ting. Through continuous caring service, they have walked into their hearts and become their good friends, bringing happiness and warmth to their lives!
