The 71st Love and Caring Action by Volunteers

      On October 24, 2020, Dasin Commonweal Volunteer Team, together with the social workers of Shiqi District, specially brought milk, fruits and other caring gifts, and once again walked into the home of the youth Xiao Ming (pseudonym) for a caring visit.

      In the previous visit, the volunteers learned about the troubles caused by the conflicts between the family members of Xiao Ming’s family. In order to further help Xiao Ming’s family to solve the difficulties, the volunteers specially invited the social workers of Shiqi District to visit Xiao Ming’s home together to understand the situation.

      On the day of the visit, the volunteers and social workers asked Xiao Ming’s grandma for more information and learned that her family member is still suffering from mental illness, and that there is also domestic violence in the family. For this reason, the social workers had an in-depth exchange with Xiao Ming’s grandma, suggesting that she should face the mental illness of her family member, encourage her family member to take medicine and receive treatment actively, and follow up, persuade and observe her family member. They also told Xiao Ming’s grandma how to protect herself and her family members, and they can seek legal aid to control the perpetrator if domestic violence recurs at home.

      During the visit, the volunteers also communicated with Xiao Ming. Xiao Ming will take the high school entrance examination next year. He is currently studying and reviewing carefully, and the school has gradually released a lot of information and notices about the arrangements for the high school entrance examination. The volunteers reminded Xiao Ming that because his aged grandma is not clear about the school arrangements, he needs to pay more attention to the matters about the examination.

 

      The volunteers insist on walking into Xiao Ming’s home for a caring visit every month, follow up the situation of Xiao Ming and his grandma, care for them with practical actions, and hope that they can still feel the warmth and sunshine from the caring visits in their difficult life!
