The 29th Volunteer Love and Care Action

In order to make deep communication with the targets and jointly develop their future growth direction and goals, on the afternoon of August 18, 2018, Dasin Public Welfare Volunteer Team launched the 29th Volunteer Love and Care Action by visiting children and young people who need care in the surrounding area of Shiqi.

On the day of the event, the volunteers came to the house of Xiaotang (pseudonym). Xiaotang is a mentally handicapped disabled youth. Although the intelligence is different from ordinary people, Xiaotang is still very eager to enter the society and seek for employment in the future, prove his ability and get the same respect received by ordinary person. Through interactions and playing games with Xiaotang, volunteers found that Xiaotang has the ambition of employment, but he is relatively weak in time concept, rule awareness and emotional management, which should be gradually improved through guidance. To this end, the volunteer team initially formulated a three-month plan for Xiaotang, guided Xiaotang to complete the tasks in the plan and learn to prepare the agenda, understand the rules and manage the emotions correctly. Volunteers hope that the guidance and exercise of Xiaotang can promote him to develop good behavior habits and lay the foundation for his future works in the society.

While visiting Xiaotang at his home, the volunteer team also visited the home of Ruirui (pseudonym) and Xiaoming (pseudonym) who will go to a school of a higher grade. In the face of the upcoming new campus life, Ruirui and Xiaoming are somewhat worried, and they don’t know how to establish relationships with new students. To this end, volunteers have conducted in-depth exchanges and guidance with them respectively: everyone will constantly face a new environment, which is the necessary process of growth. If we face it positively, we will be able to gain something, so you should not feel too worried. After a volunteers’ guidance, Ruirui and Xiaoming adjusted their mindset to prepare for the new campus life. In the future, volunteers will also actively communicate with them, understand the conditions of their campus life and guide them in a timely manner.

Since its launch in November 2017, the “Children Care Program” of Dasin Public Welfare Volunteer Team has been insisting on the services for the children and adolescents in need of love and area in Shiqi surrounding area, and carrying out the paired visits, psychological counseling, sharing and communication, and growth accompanying, etc. It is hoped that the volunteers can guide them to learn the self-growth through every action of companion and that they can have the future life as gorgeous as summer flowers!
