The 30th Voluntary Commonweal Care Action
On the afternoon of October 20, 2018, the Dasin Commonweal Volunteer Team held the 30th Voluntary Commonweal Care Action in Shiqi and surrounding areas in order to provide long-term follow-up support for children and adolescents who need concern and love, delivering warmth with sincere love services and acting as a partner and guider for their healthy growth!
During these activities, this volunteer team visited the home of a disabled young man called Xiao Tong (a pseudonym). Xiao Tong looks optimistic and positive. It is understood that a few days ago Xiao Tong has intention to step into society and get a job or start a business but is still confused about the preparations and initiation. In order to provide Xiao Xiao an opportunity of making an initial attempt to start a business, these volunteers encouraged Xiao Xiao, and helped with preparing registration materials to attend a free creative market activity coming soon. In the meantime, these volunteers had in-depth communication with Xiao Tong and his/her mother to put their ideas into shape and help set a small target, preparing for stepping into society.
Together with the visit to Xiao Tong's house, these volunteers visited the home of Rui Rui (a pseudonym) who just entered high school recently to see her adaptation to new campus life. For a special purpose, these volunteers took their self-made delicious foods to share with Rui Rui and they made some handmade articles together. In the process of sharing and hand making, volunteers understood that Rui Rui likes her new school very much but is somewhat evasive to get along with classmates. The team, for this reason, provides some guidance to in hope of seeing her growing. Love services for Rui Rui have continued for almost one year. With the long-term follow-up of volunteers, Rui Rui becomes more open and cheerful and is willing to communicate with others.
In addition, the volunteer team visited the home of Xiao Ming (a pseudonym) who just entered junior high school recently and Xiao Tang (a pseudonym), a disabled young man too. These volunteers paid close attention to Xiao Ming's school life and made communications with Xiao Ming's grandma to tell how to communicate with Xiao Ming as he is in puberty now. They also had an in-depth understanding of Xiao Tang's computer software learning. For this, Xiao Tang showed what he learned to these volunteers and won much praise and encouragement.
